The Performance Load Compass™

See where you are starting from.

You may know what you want to change without knowing everything that is contributing to what you’re experiencing.

The Performance Load Compass™ gives us a structured way to look at the broader picture.

Through questions across Capacity, Recovery, Clarity and Presence, the Compass helps us understand what you’re experiencing now, where demands may be showing up and what deserves our attention.

It gives us a starting point for the work and a way to see what changes over time.

Why the Compass

Sometimes the thing you notice first isn’t the whole picture.

You may come to Calibrated State because you’re overthinking decisions, having difficulty switching off, sleeping differently or finding that something that once came easily now requires more effort.

That experience is important.

The Compass allows us to look beyond the immediate issue and understand what else may be happening at the same time.

It doesn’t replace the conversation. It gives us more information to bring into it.

The four areas

A broader view of your current experience.

Capacity

How much room you have for what is being asked of you.

Capacity looks at your experience of managing demands and whether you still have room to respond effectively when something else is added.

Recovery

How well you are restoring between periods of demand.

Recovery considers your experience of sleep, rest and your ability to step away from sustained mental or emotional demand.

Clarity

How readily you can access clear thinking and judgment.

Clarity looks at experiences such as decision-making, concentration, mental noise and how much effort it currently takes to think through what is in front of you.

Presence

How available you are to the moment you’re actually in.

Presence considers your ability to stay engaged with what is happening now rather than remaining mentally occupied by what happened before or what may happen next.

How it works

A snapshot, not a label.

The Performance Load Compass™ includes 16 questions, with 4 across each of the four areas.

Your responses create a snapshot of your current experience across Capacity, Recovery, Clarity and Presence.

The purpose isn’t to give you a judgment about how well you’re performing or what you’re capable of.

It is to help us see where things feel reliable, where more effort may be required and where we may want to look more closely.

Using the Compass in the work

Assessment becomes useful when we do something with it.

The Compass can be used at the beginning of an engagement to give us context alongside the reason you came to Calibrated State.

From there, it can help inform where we focus while the hypnosis work remains individualized around the responses, patterns and behaviours you want to change.

We can return to the Compass as the work progresses and compare what you’re experiencing over time.

The Compass helps us understand the picture. It doesn’t determine the work.

Your results

Something useful to come back to.

Your Compass results give you a view of your current experience across all four areas.

They provide a reference point for our conversations and allow us to look back at where you started as the work progresses.

A later Compass can then show us where your experience has shifted, where it has remained consistent and where something may deserve further attention.

The goal is useful information that helps us understand where you are now and what changes over time.

Performance Load™

The framework behind the Compass.

The Compass is built around Performance Load™, a framework for understanding the total internal demand you are managing when you need to perform.

Performance Load considers Cognitive Demand, Emotional Weight and Nervous System State. The Compass gives us a way to look at how those conditions may be showing up in your current experience across Capacity, Recovery, Clarity and Presence.

The Next Step

Start with what’s happening now.

You don’t need to interpret your own results or decide what they mean for your work with Calibrated State.

We look at the Compass alongside what you are experiencing, what you would like to change and how you would like to respond instead.
